Backdrop
Expansive images on walls of blackthorn
29 September 2017 is the day we eagerly await: then the unique backdrop of the historic saltworks in Bad Rothenfelde, Lower Saxony, will be transformed at nightfall into a theatre of projections for the sixth time. Over 50 bright projectors will display images onto graduation towers, 11 metres in height and one kilometre in length, comprising artificially attached blackthorn branches. Salt water trickles in thin veils from their lime and ferric incrustations, the reflections lending the moving body of images a fascinating, iridescent character.
Dramatic actions, epic narration and lyrical moods.
Not only is the biennial the largest event of its kind, its dimensions are also unique.
